Major renovation of a former Pharmacy at Ugine (73) in order to create six new apartments and a shop.
Anthracite grey on the plasterwork emphasizes the foundation of the building. The granite front of the former pharmacy was retained, and window and door frames are in grey-lacquered aluminium. Sand-shaded plasterwork covers the external thermal insulation to the eaves.
The aluminium door and window openings on the upper storeys have a copper-brown finish and frames are in brown-finished PVC. The newly renovated balconies are of various materials: concrete corbels support metal railing that echoes the layout of the former building. Fascia boards are in stained wood and the roofing is with interlocking tiles.
Two roof windows and a chimney clad in zinc and galvanized steel were added. The lucarnes have a copper-brown finish to the zinc sides, and a brown finish to the PVC window frames and aluminum sills.
At the rear of the building the curtain wall of the stairwell was renovated and a smoke extraction system installed. An opal glass mosaic with subtle colour gradients in the stairwell brightens up this north-facing façade.
